Seven Days Without Exercise Makes One Weak

This is so true, in more ways than one...I know when I miss my workouts I feel worse with each passing day, both physically and psychologically. Conversely when I get myself moving even for a power-walk outside I feel invigorated, more confident and proud of myself.

I Make My Fat Cry At The Gym

Instead of going to the fridge crying  about my weight gain I make my fat cry at the gym. Quoted from: 'shut-up-and-squat-baby.tumblr.com' Image source: youve-been-quoted.tumblr.com

Never, Never, Never Give Up

Although Winston Churchill is not the first person one thinks of when it comes to fitness and weight loss, his word on optimism and never giving up have always struck me as being extremely motivating. Hope you find his words as inspirational as I do, not only on your fitness journey but in your life in general.  I used a picture from PublicDomainPics4U to create this image.

When life gives you lemons...

I love this quote because to me it's really saying don't let difficulties stop you. Turn your difficulties into opportunities and keep going.

I can do it, motivational gif
I love playing about with gifs...wish I had the time to make more :)

Message From My Future Self #1

I used to play a game with myself whereby I would pretend that my future self had lost all the extra weight and got super fit and would send me messages from the future to encourage me on my journey.

I thought I’d revive this little game in a series of posts entitled ‘message from my future self’ because this game is really a very powerful visualisation technique that really gets your mind believing that the weight loss and fitness you seek is an absolute reality in your future timeline.

Once you believe, really believe that something you desire is definitely going to come true in your life you will do everything in your power to make it happen.

Hope you will enjoy my little game.

The Water Cure

Nothing substitutes for water -- not a thing. No drink -- no coffee, no tea, no alcoholic beverages. Not even fruit juices. Each one of them has its own agenda. Your body is used to a fluid that has no agenda, because the body depends on the freedom of that fluid, water, because there are two kinds of water in the body. There is already occupied and engaged water, which is no good for new function. The body needs new water, or free water, to perform new functions. Now, when you give them sugar containing beverages, or caffeine containing beverages, both sugar and caffeine have their own chemical agenda in the body. They defeat the purpose of the need for water. -The Water Cure: An interview with Dr. Batmanghelidj

Do Something You've Never Done

It's so very easy to forget this...that change requires change. We have to change something permanently if we want to change something permanently in our lives.

Find Ways To Work Up A Sweat

Brisk walking, dancing, housework, gardening, stair climbing,...exercise doesn't have to look like exercise.

"Simply by standing, you burn three times as many calories as you do sitting. Muscle contractions, including the ones required for standing, seem to trigger important processes related to the breakdown of fats and sugars. When you sit down, muscle contractions cease and these processes stall." - James A. Levine, M.D., Ph.D.

Every Day Is A Good Day When You Run

I used to run several times a week for about 1 hour at a time about 7 years ago...I would love to start this habit again. This post is the beginning of my motivation to do so. Running always made me feel great for the rest of the day.

Set Goals and Monitor Progress

Tips
  1. Set realistic goals. A lot of small steps add up to big results.
  2. Use a 6 - 12 week time frame for best results. It's hard to be motivated toward a date that is a
  3. year or more in the future.
  4. Enter your body measurement and lifting progress and pics at least once a week so you can see how you are doing. Measure often!
  5. Let others know about your goals so you will have some peer pressure pushing you towards reaching them in time.
  6. Don't get discouraged by a few setbacks. Just pick yourself up and stick to your program.
