Focus On The Benefits Of Exercise

I've recently discovered that paying particular attention to the benefits and positive impact that exercise will have on my life actually makes me more motivated to exercise. I literally meditate on this daily by sitting still for a minute or two and thinking of all the great things daily exercise will do for me personally. Try this yourself, make your mental list a personal list and not just what you think you should say. Think of how great you will look and feel, think of how confident you will be, etc. Writing down the benefits works even better.

Hula Hooping Is Fun And Provides A Great Workout

I recently became quite interested in hula hooping as an exercise when I came across someone on Tumblr who told me she used hooping to lose quite a lot of weight (Check out her blog HERE). She inspired me so much that I ordered one on Amazon for myself and it will arrive tomorrow. I'm so excited about getting started because I know for sure that I'll enjoy this form of exercise.

While researching hula hooping I  found the video below on YouTube and I encourage you to watch it because it clearly demonstrates that not only is hula hooping fun, it will also help you get a good cardiovascular workout and help tone up your body as well.

The Health Benefits of Coffee

I never thought I'd ever create a blog post on the health benefits of coffee since all I'd ever heard about coffee in relation to health was how bad it can be for you. So you can imagine my surprise when I found the following Wikipedia entry on coffee:

Researchers involved in an on-going 22-year study by the Harvard School of Public Health state that "the overall balance of risks and benefits [of coffee consumption] are on the side of benefits." For example, men who drank six or more cups of coffee per day were found to have a 20% reduction in developing prostate cancer. 

Other studies suggest coffee consumption reduces the risk of being affected by Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, heart disease, diabetes mellitus type 2, cirrhosis of the liver, and gout. A longitudinal study in 2009 showed that those who consumed a moderate amount of coffee or tea (3–5 cups per day) at midlife were less likely to develop dementia and Alzheimer's disease in late-life compared with those who drank little coffee or avoided it altogether. 

The presence of antioxidants in coffee has been shown to prevent free radicals from causing cell damage. A recent study showed that roast coffee, high in lipophilic antioxidants and chlorogenic acid lactones, protected primary neuronal cell cultures against hydrogen peroxide-induced cell death.
